Small,
specialist,
Australian.

Data Disruption is a boutique consultancy focused on decision workflows in the Microsoft ecosystem. Small, specialist, and built for Australian mid-market teams that already own Power BI.

Why we exist

The work that used to take
six weeks takes ten days.

The Australian mid-market has spent a decade investing in Power BI. The result is a lot of beautiful dashboards — and a quiet, persistent problem. Numbers are visible. Decisions aren't faster. Commentary is still written by hand. Leaders still ask analysts the same questions every month.

AI changes the economics. Not as a layer bolted on top. As a reason to rebuild delivery from the ground up — fixed-scope engagements, governed workflows, auditable outputs, human sign-off. What used to be a six-week Power BI consulting engagement can now be ten days. What used to be a six-month AI transformation can now be a six-week workflow.

Data Disruption exists to do that work, visibly, at published prices, with accountability. Small firm. Specialist stack. No offshoring. No black boxes. No forty-page decks before the real work starts.

Who leads delivery? A Melbourne-based Power BI and commercial analytics specialist with more than a decade working across reporting, stakeholder communication, and decision support. The promise is simple: the person you meet is the person answerable for the work.

What we believe

Six working principles.

Decisions, not dashboards.

We start with the decision a leader is trying to make differently. If a report doesn't change a decision, we won't build it — and we'll say so on the first call.

Trust is the product.

AI that answers confidently but can't show its work isn't useful in a mid-market business. Everything we build cites sources, passes an eval set, and transfers to humans to sign.

Bot first. Human last.

Claude Code and the Fabric MCP do the first pass on every measure, prompt, and test. A named Decision Engineer reviews, challenges, and signs before anything ships.

Fixed scope. Fixed price.

Because AI compresses delivery, hourly billing would punish our own efficiency. Every engagement is priced up-front. If we deliver faster, you keep the gain as margin on the outcome.

You own what we build.

Code, prompts, eval sets, documentation — all transfer to you on handover under an unencumbered licence. No rental IP. No ongoing seat fees for accessing your own model.

Small, permanent, answerable.

No offshoring. No rotating account managers. Australian delivery, by the person whose name is on the contract. If something breaks, one email reaches the person who built it.

What we won't do
  • Hourly billing or T&M contracts. Fixed scope, or no engagement.
  • Reports without a named decision behind them.
  • AI work that ships without a human signature.
  • Black-box IP. You own what we build.
  • Chasing ASX-50 enterprise — wrong procurement speed for our model.
  • Offshoring or subcontracting delivery.
Who we work with

Mid-market Australian businesses
who already own the stack.

The clearest fit is an Australian business roughly $50M–$500M in revenue, with Power BI already in production for 12+ months and Fabric either licensed or being evaluated. A named executive buyer — usually CFO, Head of Data, or COO — who can sign an engagement without a procurement committee. A board-level expectation that AI needs to show up in the financial year, and a working preference for a small specialist firm over a Big-4 programme.

We do our best work with logistics, wholesale and distribution, professional services, mid-tier financial services, and multi-site operators. We avoid pre-Power-BI engagements, startups under $20M, and any procurement process that requires a nine-month sales cycle.

If you're not sure whether you're a fit, the answer is usually a 45-minute call rather than a written pitch.

Best fit

  • Power BI already in production
  • A named buyer such as CFO, COO, or Head of Data
  • A real workflow bottleneck this quarter
  • A team that wants governed AI, not theatre

Usually not a fit

  • Net-new BI platform selection
  • Nine-month procurement cycles
  • Pure strategy decks without delivery
  • AI work with no human accountability

that still takes too long.
